In the beginning it was fun looking in books for some inspiration. But just like most of my mandalas, this one is made entirely intuitive! In a wonderful (Dutch) book, "Zien door Rozetten, zicht op het eeuwig motief" by Robert la Boresa (text and illustrations), I saw little motifs, that appealed to me. They appeared to be his interpretation of the symbol which is known as 'vesica piscis'. I didn't know anything about its meaning, but I wanted them in my mandala. Besides, they were pretty challenging to draw...
The cross-like motif and the crescents came out totally spontaneous. Almost everyone thinks that the round motifs behind them are lemon slices, but I didn't have any intention whatsoever, LOL!
The same is true for my choise of colors: not on purpose. If you are interested in the meaning of colors, you might want to read the articles by Kate Smith from "Sensational Color" about yellow, green, blue and purple.

Alweer Vrolijke Mandala Maandag! Tijd om je wat te vertellen over mijn tweede mandala van weleer.
In het begin vond ik het leuk om in boeken te kijken en me te laten inspireren. Toch is deze mandala, net als de meeste van mijn mandala's, puur intuïtief tot stand gekomen. In het prachtige boek "Zien door Rozetten, zicht op het eeuwig motief" door Robert la Boresa (tekst en illustraties) zag ik motiefjes, die me wel aanspraken. Ze bleken zijn interpretatie te zijn van het symbool dat bekend staat als 'vesica piscis'. Ik had geen idee van de betekenis, maar ik wilde ze absoluut een plekje in mijn mandala geven. Ze waren trouwens nog een aardige uitdaging om te tekenen...
Helemaal spontaan volgden ook het kruisachtige motief in het midden en de halve manen. Vrijwel iedereen denkt dat de ronde motieven daarachter schijfjes citroen zijn, maar ik had er geen enkele bedoeling mee, hoor!
Hetzelfde geldt voor mijn kleurkeuze: geheel onbewust. Als je geïnteresseerd bent in de betekenis van kleuren, lees dan de artikelen van Anne-Lies Smal van "Inspirerend leven" over geel, groen, blauw en paars. Met veel humor geschreven en midden in de roos!!
Wonderen bestaan: mirakelse mandala's!
